All you need to know about: Mike Huckabee

January 9, 2008

Republican Mike Huckabee is supported by the man, the myth, the lengend: Chuck Norris. This is an obvious attention-getter for the key 18-30-year-old male demographic, many of whom watch Total Gym infomercials for the pleasure of seeing Norris, not Christie Brinkley, work out. For a Fox News interview with Huckabee and Norris, preceded by a look at their commercial, see below.

Conan O’Brien’s Walker Texas Ranger lever not only played funny clips, but it launched Chuck Norris into the stratosphere of temporary fame. Subsequently, it might be said that this same broomstick handle has helped catapult Mike Huckabee to the top of the polls.

On a more serious note, Huckabee is also the bassist in a rock band called Capitol Offense. According to the band’s Myspace page, “Shortly after becoming Governor of Arkansas in 1996, Gov. Mike Huckabee and staff members DeWayne Hayes and Chris Pyle were discussing their love of music and, specifically, classic rock-n-roll. After learning that they each played different musical instruments, they decided to get together for a jam session in the basement of the Governor’s Mansion.” Two recruits later, Capitol Offense was born.

And what an offense they are. “Free Bird,” anyone? Brace yourselves…they rock hard.

If you’re like me, you watched very little of that. But hey, props to Huck for the effort, right?

And finally, let us not forget to give him some credit for the 100+ lb. weight loss. I think the Huck of old looked more honest, genuine, and presidential, but that’s just me. Or is it, America?
